HOW TO USE IT
How to use a
TikTok transcript
A transcript turns a video you can only watch into a script you can study. Three steps get you from someone else’s TikTok to your own reel.
- 1
Read the hook on its own
Would it make you stop? Note what it promises: a mistake to avoid, a number, a story, a strong opinion.
- 2
Mark the structure
Find where the video moves from the hook to its point, how it backs the point up, and where it asks for something: a comment, a follow, a save.
- 3
Write your own version
Keep the structure that worked and change the rest: your topic, your example, your words. Don’t post someone else’s script as your own.
Or let HandlePilot do all three for your reels
HandlePilot watches the reels working in your niche on Instagram and works out what makes them stand out: the hook, the structure, the pattern that keeps people watching. Then it writes your version, scene by scene, in your tone of voice, which it learns from your own reels and captions.
Questions?
How do I get the transcript of a TikTok video?+
In the TikTok app, tap Share on the video, then Copy link. Paste the link into the box at the top of this page and press Get transcript. The words usually appear in 3 to 10 seconds.
Can I turn a TikTok video into text?+
Yes. Paste the video’s link and you get the whole text, ready to copy, or as a .txt file. Switch timestamps on to see when each line is said, or download .srt subtitles.
Is it free?+
Yes. You get 5 transcripts a day, with no account and no card. Each one costs us a fraction of a cent, and the daily limit keeps the tool free for everyone. It resets at midnight UTC.
Which videos does it work on?+
Any public TikTok video. When the creator added captions, it works at any length. Without captions, it transcribes videos up to 2 minutes long. Photo posts have nothing to transcribe, and private or deleted videos can’t be opened.
Does it work on videos without captions?+
Yes. When a video has no captions, the tool transcribes what is said in it, up to 2 minutes. Text that only appears on screen isn’t read, and when the sound is a song, its lyrics may show up in the transcript. A video in which nobody speaks has nothing to transcribe; the tool shows its caption instead.
Do short links from the app work?+
Yes. Links like vm.tiktok.com/… and tiktok.com/t/… work, and so do full links like tiktok.com/@creator/video/…
Can TikTok show a video’s transcript?+
TikTok can show captions on a video as it plays, when the creator has added them or turned on auto captions. It doesn’t give you the whole text to copy. To have it all at once, to read, copy or keep, paste the video’s link here.
Can I get the transcript of someone else’s TikTok?+
Yes, of any public video. Credit the creator when you quote them, and don’t post their script as your own.
Which languages does it work in?+
The transcript is written in the language the video is spoken in, or in the language of the creator’s captions.
Does it work on Instagram reels too?+
Yes, on its own page: the free Instagram reel transcript tool takes a reel link and gives you the words, the hook and the length.
What do you keep about me?+
Almost nothing. We don’t store the link you paste or the transcript. To count your free transcripts, we keep a one-way hash of your IP address until the day ends (midnight UTC), then delete it. The privacy policy has the details.
